BLOGGER ON MY NERVES

My Blog got marked as a potential Spam Blog???? Are they nuts? This is what I found when I clicked the little question mark - and then had to do another stupid word verification to get a human to check out my blog to make sure it wasn't spam:

The same classifiers are used to require an extra word verification field on the posting form for potential spam blogs. This makes it harder for spammers to set up automated systems to do their posting, since a human needs to complete this step.

Then after I do this stupid stuff I get this message:

Your blog requires word verification
Blogger's spam-prevention robots have detected that your blog has characteristics of a spam blog. (What's a spam blog?) Since you're an actual person reading this, your blog is probably not a spam blog. Automated spam detection is inherently fuzzy, and we sincerely apologize for this false positive.

We received your unlock request on April 12, 2007. On behalf of the robots, we apologize for locking your non-spam blog. Please be patient while we take a look at your blog and verify that it is not spam.

First of all if they thought it was a spam blog why did they not just come and check it out on their own? Why do I have to go in there and tell them it's not spam. I mean, they want to get rid of spam blogs so go in and check them and if they are coming back flagged as spam blogs they can then delete them or whatever. Excuse me if I am a busy person and like to Blog, I thought that was the point. Now mind you I am not complaining about the people who work at Blogger but the policies they have there. The policies get set and the people have to follow them, but I am really busy (as they can tell lol) and I don't have time for more delays and annoyances. OK I am done prattling lol. Carry on..........

With respect to you (cause I understand where you're coming from!!) they do that because there are thousands upon thousands of blogs.. going through and checking each and every one by hand would be near impossible. But to have the robots check it, and then have the blogger go "HEY!" that easily confirms it quickly for them and the ones that don't respond have been already shut down and taken out of our way. :)

So it's no offense to you, just less consuming on monetary resources (since this is a free service) that they probably don't have to acquire the necessary humans to check each and every possible spammer.

Hope this makes you feel better!! :D
