National Do Not Call Registry

ARGH You know, it's bad enough when you get these creepy sales people calling your home phone number, but when they start invading your cell phone and costing you money as well as time, it really ticks me off. Alex sent me the link for this a little while ago and I registered right away so I can stop getting these calls. I had $3 in these calls last week alone! So anyway for those of you who don't have the number but do have those annoying and sometimes costly phone calls, here is the website for you to go and register your phone numbers. You can do both land lines and cell phones ;)

NATIONAL DO NOT CALL REGISTRY

https://www.donotcall.gov/

If they call you 31 days after you register you can file a complaint.

New items in my Boutiques, Challenges & Featured!

I am adding two new sets of Overlays to my Boutiques this week:

1 Week plus 2 days equals........

an A on your Science Fair Project!!!! Wooohooo!!! He lost a half of a point for not putting a notebook in his list of materials (ACK UGH sighhhhh) and he lost one point for not re-stating his hypothesis in his conclusion. I nearly died! I was so proud of him. This was the first year I didn't have to yell, scream and threaten for him to do it then witness a fiasco as he tried to pull something off at the last minute lol. As you can see in his photo, he wasn't dressed exactly the way he normally does for school. That's because they picked the same day as Field Day for the to bring in their projects. Again, I was having a stroke because all I could picture was a bunch of hyped up kids bouncing around and Charles' project getting totaled in the process.
Thankfully, it didn't happen. His teacher offered him a job! I don't know if I posted that already or not. His Computer teacher is quite impressed and said he is opening a Computer School of sorts and wants Charles to help with the classes! (He already tested Charles to see where he would be for classes for next year and he is already past the senior level classes with regards to computers and programming.) That job would be great since he is taking computers and Business Management classes in High School next year. He would be getting real life experience which is brownie points for college lol. Also, quite frankly, he doesn't like to get dirty so it's good that he shouldn't get anything other than a little dust on him lol.

Johnathan has brought his grades up as much as 20 points in some classes but he still can't hit the A mark. Here the grading systems is harder. You need a 94 to get an A so instead of asking what grade he got, I ask what his score was. To me if he gets over an 85 that's great because he has been used to a different grading system. He got an 80 on his last reading test which is a C, in Florida it would have been a B so he is a little disheartened but I told him not to look at the letter grades just concentrate on getting his scores higher. Either way it's an improvement. He has also become quite the entrepreneur and is working his tail off with the neighbor next door. The man with the farm has been rebuilding things over there and expanding for his goats. He has actually built a play area with a pond for them and is adding on a dock - which he and John started building yesterday, and is putting in see-saws and other things to keep the goats happy lol. So far John has saved $40! He's 11 for Pete's sake. But he works his tail off and doesn't mind getting dirty. Two children, same parents - so different lol.

Well, that's it for the homefront, everything else is BAU (business as usual) Have a great weekend!

How was your Mother's Day?

Mine was nice and pretty quiet. Something I am not used to and I still had to stick a couple of hours in to work lol I had a couple of photos to share but left them at home so they will have to wait till next time. Which, by the way, will probably be sometimes Wednesday. We have a bunch of things to do at home and probably won't have time to get here and back before Alex has to be at work.

Did you see the awesome kit that Tracy (Ambowife) made for you all? Field Day at the Elementary schoo!

Yep, today is field day at the school and John is psyched, even though you can't tell by the photo because he is squinting from the son. LOL He made that tye dye shirt and I had to wash it 5 times with dishwashing liquid and let it air dry before he could wear it today. Between the shirt and the hair he looks like a 70's throw back LMBO.

School is over May 30th, they go in for like 1/2 a day and that's it. I can't believe it, the year went fast.

Charles has to finish up his Science Fair project this week and then thankfully that will be out of the way. I hate Science Fair projects, from a parents point of view. Especially when you have a child that says "I got it, don't worry" PFFFTTT Be afraid, be very afraid lol.

Have a great day!

Bling Freebie!

I was playing around in one of my programs making doodles and what nots and made these little guys. I thought they would be cute for your teen layouts or even layouts about chats etc. I was going to put them up in my store but figured since I had been out of it for so long when I was in the hospital that I would give them to you instead. I hope you enjoy them. As usual PLEASE no file sharing. If you think someone would like these send them here to my blog to download them. You can click on the image to be taken to the download ;)

And here's a little closeup for you ;)

Enjoy!

Caught on Tape!

My DS Charles & his friend Robie at our house Friday night! This was great and I just had to share it with you! We had a fun filled weekend as you can see by this video and this was just the beginning!

CHARLES & ROBIE SING "HATE ME TODAY"

Saturday night was the Prom/Informal/Semi-Formal/Casual "Let's go to the Hop - Dance LOL. Doesn't he look so handsome?

The Principal was really impressed by his shorter hair, fitting clothes and the tie LOL I really made him go, he didn't want to. When we picked him up he thanked us up and down for making him go LOL Apparently he got to DJ for a while and had a ton of fun dancing with everyone there.

We had another visitor Saturday night. Now mind you we just saw "The Mist" about 2 or 3 weeks ago (Stephen King Movie) so when we saw something flutter past our door and slam into it that movie was the first thing that popped into our minds. But it turned out to be this little (BIG) guy. Isn't he cool?

OK well I have other things to do right now. CYA!

Pass this on!

I don't usually post stuff like this on my blog since it came through an e-mail but this one is realy important!

Yesterday, both the U.S. House of Representative and the U.S. Senate introduced two versions of the orphan works bill. Both the Senate version, S.2913, and the House version, H.R.5889 are very similar in nature and closely mirror the Orphan Works Act of 2006.

PLEASE CONTACT AND BE HEARD WE NEED TO STOP THIS:

Find your representative:
http://www.usa. gov/Contact/ Elected.shtml

To get the attention of your representatives, you need to
immediately do ALL FOUR of the following steps:

1. Call the representative and give the bill numbers and say I oppose this (You'll get someone who works for your representative and they will log your address and your pro/con feedback.)

2. email your representative

3. Overnight or priority mail a snail mail letter

4. Fax a letter

Get as many signatures as possible on the paper copies. Do all 4 steps if you want to be heard!

There is a small window of time to voice your opposition
usually the best time to act is in the 48 hours following the release of the bill number!

Here is a sample letter you can edit and send to your local and/orstate representatives and Senators. These letters work best when you make your point clear, do not curse, and make them aware that you live in their district or state and can vote for or against them.

Feel free to make this personal with your story on how the Orphan Works legislation will harm your income. Stories are incredibly powerful.

Faxes work better than e-mails, as e-mails are too easy to delete.

Congressman/ Congresswoman/ Senator (their name)
(their contact info)
Fax: (their fax number)

Re: The Orphan Works legislation

Dear (their name),

My name is (your name) and I live in (your city, state). After reading about the Orphan Works bill, I am shocked and outraged that this could happen in our country.

This Orphan Works legislation, if passed, will severely impact my income and life as an artist. Not only will it give license for others to legally steal and use my work for free, it will be virtually impossible for me to afford the time and money to register my creations in all the potential new registries.

(your personal story if you wish. It should show hardship under the new bill)

I strongly urge you to vote AGAINST the Orphan Works bill and protect my rights, my copyrights, to all that I have and will create.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

(your name)
(your address)
------

PLEASE PASS THIS ON TO EVERY ARTIST YOU KNOW!
